Westford Youth Lacrosse is dedicated to teaching teamwork, providing healthy exercise and developing creative problem-solving skills. Through our integrated programs, we provide a fun, recreational and instructional environment for young lacrosse players, fostering a love of the sport. Our program provides learning for all levels by providing great lacrosse experiences for all the boys and girls in the program regardless of skill level. We welcome all new and returning players at any grade, age or skill level.
We are hoping everyone is staying healthy and safe during these trying and unprecedented times. We had hoped we would be able to take the field for the spring 2020 WYL season, but unfortunately, that was not able to happen. We know how disappointing that was for everyone. The decision was not an easy one to make.
WYL will look for further direction from the state, the town, and our affiliated leagues (MBYLL and Founders) about when we can get back onto the field. We hope to be able to offer late summer or fall programs for all age groups in lieu of this cancelled spring season, but it is still too early to tell. The Board may also explore other options, such as clinics so please be on the lookout for further updates in the coming weeks/months as we know more!
Registration fees collected for this spring season will be refunded to you. If you paid by credit card, you will see a refund to your credit card from WYL. Look for this refund on your next credit card statement from WESTFORD YOUTHLACROSSE. If you paid by check, you will receive a check from WYL for the refunded amount.
Refunds will be for 100% of the registration fee paid to WYL, minus a small transaction fee to transfer the money electronically (usually 2-3%) for credit card refunds. Membership dues for MBYLL and/or Founders League are not controlled by WYL. Our understanding is the membership dues will not be refunded. Please note, the membership comes with insurance coverage which will remain with the player for the remainder of the year. .
The WYL is a non-profit organization that runs our program “at cost.” In preparation for the 2020 season, we had already incurred certain costs for the spring program before we received the Governor's order, such as uniforms, equipment, transaction fees, etc. The WYL Board does not believe it is fair to pass those costs on to the families, so instead, WYL will absorb those costs and carry them forward into the next season. We have received requests from families who were interested in making contributions to WYL to help cover some of these costs. We are very grateful for those offers so we have made a contribution portal available. We did not want to complicate or delay the refund program with the issuance of partial refunds, so after you receive your refund if you wish to make a contribution, please do so at www.paypal.me/WestfordYouthLax.
We thank you for your support and understanding in this challenging time. The WYL Board and all of our coaches and volunteers can’t wait to be back on the fields as soon as we can! If you have any questions please contact us at

Update on the 2020 WYL Season
April 26, 2020
Unfortunately, we will need to cancel the Spring 2020 season for both the girls and boys programs. It is with great disappointmentthat we need to make this decision. Both leagues were trying hard to preserve some of the season, but it is just not possible to do that and maintain a safe environment for the players, coaches, refs, and parents.
For our 8th graders, we are sorry you had to miss your last season in youth lacrosse. Youth sports is a great opportunity to play and have fun with friends. We hope you remember the good times and the positive experiences gained while playing lacrosse and take those to the next level. We hope you all try to continue your lacrosse career and play for Westford Academy next year.
With the cancellation of the season, WYL is working on the refund policy. We will try to have an update on the refund amount as well as distribute the funds shortly. Please keep in mind that although WYL is a volunteer organization, we have costs to maintain the program during the year. We are exploring all options for refunds.
Both MBYLL and Founders are considering alternative options to play lacrosse this year. WYL will work with both leagues to see about options for summer or fall opportunities to play lacrosse. Nothing has been determined at this time, but we will keep you informed as plans are made.
WYL thanks everyone for their patience during this challenging time. I know we all want to be on the lacrosse field playing and cheering, and we will be in the future. For now, please encourage your player to keep a stick in their hands and continue to sharpen their skills. Lets hit the ground running once it is safe to do so!
